2009 AVMA Convention Opening Ceremony controversy

The Opening Ceremony for the 2009 AVMA Convention will include a motivational presentation by the Pike Place Fish Market fishmongers. The presentation centers on teamwork and positive workplace attitudes, and includes a fish tossing demonstration. In the United States there is a critical shortage of approved animal drugs intended for less common animal species or those with less common conditions. The Minor Use and Minor Species (MUMS) Animal Health Act of 2001 is intended as a mechanism to provide FDA-authorized drugs for those less common species and indications.
