The American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) wants to help veterinary students who are interested in food animal veterinary medicine. The AABP provides grants of up to $500 to support veterinary students and students just admitted to veterinary school who complete an externship of at least two weeks in bovine practice. The grant money is intended to help pay for travel expenses and to make up for lost earnings while the student is on the externship.
The American Association of Swine Veterinarians Foundation provides grants of $200 to veterinary students who complete an externship of at least two weeks in a swine practice or a mixed practice with a considerable swine component. The grants were formerly available only to senior students but may now be awarded to any student in veterinary school who fulfills the requirements.
