Washington State University (WSU) in collaboration with Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories (SNBL) is offering a combined anatomic pathology residency and PhD training position. The residency training will occur primarily in the Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic laboratory, a fully accredited diagnostic laboratory (www.vetmed.wsu.edu/depts_waddl/) that is a founding member of the National Animal Health Laboratory Network, with annual rotation at SNBL, a preclinical contract research laboratory (www.snblusa.com). Trainees will be eligible for ACVP-certification and will be highly recruited for positions in biotechnology and pharmaceutical research as well as academia. The PhD program emphasizes infectious disease research, including diagnosis and control of emerging diseases, pathogenesis, host defense mechanisms, and controlling disease at the human-animal interface. WSU faculty are internationally recognized in infectious diseases and immunology research (www.vetmed.wsu.edu/research_vmp/) and are experienced in mentoring trainees in state-of-the-art laboratories funded by NIH, USDA, Grayson Foundation, Morris Animal Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, and the WSU School for Global Animal Health (http://globalhealth.wsu.edu/). Starting stipend is $35,436. Requirements: DVM or equivalent degree and US citizenship or permanent residency status.
