I Spring 2009

Welcome to the COE Standard

Welcome to the premier issue of the COE Standard, the AVMA Council on Education's new quarterly newsletter. The Standard is intended to keep you updated on COE activities — ongoing accreditation status of schools, upcoming site visits, changes in COE membership — and to inform and enhance your understanding of accreditation. Curious about what happens on a site visit? Perplexed by the term "substantial compliance"? Confused about outcomes assessment? We'll try to clarify all that and more.

You are receiving this newsletter based on your role in veterinary education. However, this is only a trial subscription. You must send us an e-mail to opt in to ensure you will continue receiving COE Standard. If you do not e-mail us to opt in, you will stop receiving the newsletter after your four-issue trial subscription. If for any reason you do not want to continue receiving this newsletter, simply follow the "unsubscribe" instructions at the bottom of this newsletter.

Be sure to tell a colleague

We hope you will find the COE Standard to be an interesting and helpful source of information. If you have friends and colleagues you think would appreciate it, we encourage you to forward this newsletter to them and invite them to e-mail us to request their own subscription. You cannot request a subscription on their behalf; they need to send us an e-mail themselves.

But there are many other benefits to accreditation, too – including increased prestige in the eyes of funders, government officials and potential students. Learn more...
