Start your AVMA Annual Convention experience off right with the Hill's Opening Session this morning with Emmy Award-winning journalist and best-selling author Cokie Roberts.

A native of New Orleans and the daughter of two former members of Congress, Roberts is a contributing senior news analyst for National Public Radio and a regular roundtable analyst for "This Week with George Stephanopoulos." She also provides political commentary for ABC News.

Roberts has written several books, including the national bestseller "We are Our Mothers' Daughters" as well as "Ladies of Liberty: The Women Who Shaped Our Nation" and "Founding Mothers: The Women Who Raised Our Nation."

This inductee into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame was cited by the American Women in Radio and Television as one of the 50 greatest women in the history of broadcasting.

Roberts peppers her speeches with insight and wisdom born of personal and professional relationships that were honed in the halls of Congress over four decades. Now you can hear her observations about the national and international scene at the Hill's Opening Session.

The Hill's Opening Session will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the La Nouvelle Ballroom at the convention center and is free to all registered convention attendees. A continental breakfast will be served.
