People have long enjoyed the company of animals as pets. Dogs have lived with humans as pets for more than 10,000 years. Today there are many kinds of pets. People enjoy the companionship of dogs, cats, birds, fish, pot-bellied pigs, hamsters, snakes, iguanas and horses to name a few. There are several factors to consider when choosing a pet. Select an animal you would like to have as a pet and research information which should be considered before obtaining this animal as a pet.
Use the computer and an electronic encyclopedia to research the following questions.
- Describe the animal.
- Where does this animal live?
- What is the diet of the animal?
- How long will the animal live?
- Does this animal have any special needs?
- How is this animal useful to humans?
- What is the history of the animal?
