AVMA Practitioner Research Award
 

Nominations due by February 1, 2012

Established in 1955 by the Council on Research, the AVMA Practitioner Research Award is given annually to a veterinarian in recognition of his or her achievements in research that have advanced the veterinary profession. A crystal sculpture signifies the award, along with $500. It is presented to an active AVMA member whose research activity and contributions were conducted and published while engaged in private veterinary practice.

Nomination Procedure
No self-nominations will be considered. Nominations are to include a cover letter from the nominator, with significant research achievements of the nominee noted, and a concise curriculum vitae (CV) including a listing of relevant publications. Please include, if available, a reprint of the most significant publication. The cover letter from the nominator must include the name of the award; the name, mailing address, telephone number(s), E-mail address, and college and year of graduation of the nominee; the nature of the nominee's current professional activity and professional activity when the research was completed and published (type of practice or type of salaried work); organizational memberships (professional and scientific) of the nominee; a 300- to 320-word narrative sketch of the nominee's professional background; and a statement pertaining to the nominee's qualifications for the award, including the nature of the nominee's research project(s).

Nominations should be mailed to the AVMA Education and Research Division for receipt no later than February 1. The AVMA Council on Research will review nominations and select the honoree at its spring meeting.
