Nomination Form—Nominations due February 1, 2012
The award is given as needed up to once a year to an individual to recognize his/her contribution to advance the AVMA's Legislative Agenda and advocate on behalf of the veterinary profession.
The award comprises a physical award, a $500 honorarium, hotel and airfare for travel of the recipient to accept the award at the AVMA's Annual Convention.
Criteria
- Nominees may be veterinarians or non-veterinarians
- Veterinarians must be AVMA members
- Nominations may be made by AVMA Members, State VMAs, Allied organizations, AVMA committees or councils, House of Delegates, or AVMA Executive Board
- No self-nominations accepted
- Nominations must recognize efforts related to state or federal advocacy to advance the AVMA's Legislative Agenda and advocate on behalf of the veterinary profession
Supporting Material
- Each nomination must include
- A completed nomination form
- A copy of the candidates resume/curriculum vitae or biography (not to exceed two pages)
Selection Process
- The AVMA Executive Board selects the recipient of the AVMA Advocacy Award
- At the discretion of the AVMA Executive Board, an award may not be presented every year
