The Environmental Protection Agency gives notice of a meeting of the National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology (NACEPT) Subcommittee on Promoting Environmental Stewardship.

Brief Description and AVMA Response

The purpose of the proposed meeting of Subcommittee will be to advise the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on how to promote environmental stewardship practices that encompass all environmental aspects of an organization in the regulated community and other sectors, as appropriate, in order to enhance human health and environmental protection.

The AVMA contends that the concept of One Health which embraces the idea that the health of all people, animals, and our environment are inseparably intertwined and interdependent should be followed when examining the idea of environmental stewardship. The AVMA feels that addressing one or two groups while omitting the third is incomplete and potentially problematic and that there is a need for collaborative efforts by multiple disciplines with the goal of optimal health of people, animals, and the environment.
