JOHN SCAMAHORN, DVM

District VI AVMA Executive Board Representative

John Scamahorn, DVM, owner of a mixed animal practice in west-central Indiana, has been active in organized veterinary medicine since his 1972 graduation from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Scamahorn served as the President of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association from 1991-1992. He also served as chair of their Executive Board. Nationally, Dr. Scamahorn served as Indiana's alternate delegate and delegate to the American Veterinary Medical Association's House of Delegates. He was appointed to the AVMA/Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges Joint Committee as the House of Delegates representative.

Dr. Scamahorn credits his father and grandfather, both physicians, for instilling in him the importance of organized medicine and its importance in addressing the important issues and concerns.

The American Veterinary Medical Association's Executive Board is responsible for the business of the Association. Board members interpret policy established by the House of Delegates and formulate specific policy for staff implementation.
