There are three (3) membership categories within the AVMA

1. Voting Member*
    Download application
2. Associate Member
    Download application
3. Affiliate Member
    Download application

* Veterinarians who have graduated within the past two years may qualify for reduced dues

How to Join the AVMA

1. Select and print the appropriate member application form
2. Complete the application
3. Mail or fax the completed application, payment and any additional required information to:

   American Veterinary Medical Association
   Attention: Membership Division
   1931 North Meacham Road, Suite 100
   Schaumburg, IL 60173-4360
   Fax: 847-303-5669

Qualifications for AVMA membership by category

1. Voting membership:
   1. Have you earned a professional degree in veterinary medicine?
   2. Do you have one (1) of the following:
      1. A membership with a State Veterinary Medical Association or other veterinary organization represented in the AVMA House of Delegates

         OR

      2. Endorsements by two (2) voting members of the AVMA
   If you answered yes to 1 & 2, then you qualify for Voting Membership
   
   
2. Associate Membership:
   1. Have you earned a professional degree in veterinary medicine?
   2. Are you a legal resident of another country other than the United States?
   3. Do you have one (1) of the following:
      1. A membership with the national veterinary medical association of the country where you live?

         OR

      2. Endorsements by two (2) voting members of the AVMA
   If you answered yes to 1, 2 & 3, then you qualify for Associate Membership
   
   

   If you do not qualify for Voting or Associate membership, you may still qualify for Affiliate membership

3. Affiliate Membership:
   1. Are you a permanent resident of the United States or Canada?
   2. Are you involved in one (1) of the following?
      1. Teaching veterinary medicine

         OR

      2. Veterinary research
   If you answered yes to 1 & 2, then you qualify to apply for Affiliate Membership
