Hurricane Recovery
How you can help

You can make a difference

(Updated September 9, 2005)

We have all been witness to the heartbreaking news coverage of people in crisis and animals suffering in the hurricane-affected states on the Gulf of Mexico. Many of us are filled with a desire to help, in any way we can.

Here you will find a number of ways you can make a difference to those affected by the Gulf States hurricane. As more opportunities arise, information will be added to this page.

How you can help:

Donate Use the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) secure online form for fast and convenient payment by credit card.

 Or:
Send a check made payable to AVMF to:
American Veterinary Medical Foundation
Department 20 - 1122
P.O. Box 5940
Carol Stream, IL 60197-5940
Be sure to include "AVMF Disaster Relief Fund" in the memo section of your check.

Volunteer The United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Inspection Service (USDA/APHIS) is looking for volunteers to assist in Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts and assistance in future natural and animal disease emergencies. Please send an email to EmergencyVMO@aphis.usda.gov with the subject line "New NAHERC Volunteer" for more information on how you can get involved.
